The Haute Vienne is in the Limousin area of central France. It has 1,000 lakes, quiet hills and valleys, interesting walks, horse-riding, cycling, bird-watching, swimming, sailing, fishing - it's all here in this quiet backwater of rural France. If you enjoy good wine and food, sport, nature, history or just relaxing in the sun, come here to chill out or use up your excess energy; the choice is yours. Visit the market held close by on 29th of each month, Limoges to see its famous porcelain and enamel-work or the wonders of Futuroscope at Poitiers. This area is accessible from all major UK ports, being only about 20 minutes from the A20 motorway.
The gite is in a hamlet that has been here for around 600 years & used to be a busy farming community with its own bakery. Most of the land around is no longer used as young people move away to the towns & cities. It is peaceful here but busier places are easy to reach in all directions.
The gite is a self-contained wing of my house. There is a separate car parking area & access to the gite for tenants offering privacy.
The living area has oak beams and a beautiful oak and stone fireplace housing a wood-burning stove. There is a sofa-bed to accommodate extra guests. Double doors lead to a private patio & garden with washing-line & a BBQ is available for guests.
The kitchen area is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils. An ancient oak staircase leads to the bedroom with twin beds and shower room the staircase is not as steep as it looks on the photograph! Linen is available.
Fresh free-range eggs &, during the summer months, organic produce can be bought from the owner.
Long lets are available, e.g. for house-hunting in the area.
The nearby village offers bakers, supermarket, bars & restaurant, pharmacy, hairdresser [men & women], garage & DIY store. Have fun exploring the local area on quad bikes hired in the village.
