This picturesque 19th Century gite for 2-6 people is tucked away in the rich gardens of a lovingly restored mill where you can enjoy a beautiful view from your private patio.

Rooms have been restored maintaining cherry wood floors and other original features. The gite terrace offers relaxing views and alfresco dining facilities. Inside boasts a large, fully equipped kitchen and cosy living room with wood burning fire. There are two double and two twin beds, a spacious bathroom with shower and separate WC. All linen and towels are provided.

Located on the edge of the historic village of Charroux, in the Poitou Charente region of France, the gite is in a wonderful position with the river Charente and nature reserves on the doorstep. This little haven offers excellent fishing, walking and cycling. Plus the village shops and bars are just 10 minutes walk away.

The gite nestles in three acres of garden incorporating orchards, lawns, streams, a pond and woodland, which provide a haven for wildlife and offer the perfect location for a relaxing holiday or long stay. And while you take time to enjoy the local food and wine, kids can safely play in the garden with the many games provided.

Mountain bikes are available for your use and the garden offers an excellent space for children and adults with a badminton net, BBQ and ample space for other activities. We can also provide petanque which can be played on the pitch behind the house.

Table tennis, darts and other games are available in the outbuildings along with an outdoor swimming pool.

There is plenty to keep the whole family entertained, including chateaux and vine yards, Futuroscope (moving image theme park), beach and coastal activities at La Rochelle, the Monkey Valley, the beautiful towns of Cognac and Confolens and the market town of Civray. The river Charente, excellent cycling and walking, fishing, climbing and swimming facilities are all available in the local area. The beautiful village of Charroux is steeped in history and has several good bars and restaurants.
