Les Hirondelles is a 19th century stone barn, converted into a two bedroomed gite, forming about half of the property. The other half is occupied by us. Which means we are never far away if you have any questions.

The gite is large and comfortable and recently refurbished to a high degree. There are two large double bedrooms, one with double bed and one twin bedded. Large fitted wardrobes in both rooms. The double bedded room has an en suite bathroom with full sized bath, shower, hand basin and toilet. There is also a family bathroom along the corridor with toilet, hand basin and walk in shower. Cot and fold away bed also available.

The lounge is big and comfy with two new, large settees to seat 5 adults easily. also big pouffe plus a padded swivel chair. satelite tv, vhs, cd player. Books and games for those quiet evenings after a busy day out! Lawned play area with BBQ for your own personal use. Visitors are welcome in the main garden, all help gratefully recieved! gardening tips too!!

The large kitchen diner is well equipped with many new items. Washing machine, cooker, microwav,toaster, coffee maker and everything necessary for a home from home holiday!
Fresh linen weekly, including towels.
The gite is all electric, heating and water.
Additional weekly charge for electricity of 10 centimes per unit reading (usually about 5-10 euros per summer week)

The renovated barn was formerly part of a farm (We have the cow shed!) Situated in the small hamlet of La Planche Bourdon (wooden bumble bee) and just outside the village of Contrieres, we are only 7 kms south of the busy picturesque town of Coutances, with it's beautiful Cathedral, that can be seen on the skyline for miles around: and just 1 1/2 hrs drive from Cherbourg.

The countryside around us is totally agricultural and very quiet and peaceful. There are several small towns, villages and sandy beaches nearby. Hauteville-sur-mer (10 mins drive) has a gorgeous sandy beach stretching as`far`as you can see in each direction. Granville, also on the coast offers a more traditional/ tourist type of resort. Granville has lovely shops and boutiques, typical French cafes and restaurants.

We`are within easy reach of Coutances, Granville, Avranches. An hour away from Bayeaux, Caen, St Lo and the Normandy invasion beaches; associated museums and displays. Other places of interest within driving distance, Honfleur, Mont St Michel and Dinan. Easy access to Jersey by ferry from Granville.

All the surrounding towns have weekly markets and supermarkets. fresh local produce, lovely hot sausage sandwiches. English and French bars and restaurants.
