General Description
Newly renovated Spring 2009, this beautiful 3 storey town house is perfectly located right in the centre of Olonzac, the ‘capital’ of the Minervois wine growing region. Within a minute’s walk, you will be able to soak up the atmosphere of this charming town. Whether you wish to mingle with the locals at the market, which is one of the best in the area, go shopping, enjoy a fine meal at one of the many nearby restaurants or simply relax over a cup of coffee or glass of wine, Olonzac has all you could wish for a memorable French holiday!
This one bedroom property has been extensively renovated and decorated with style in mind, whilst retaining its authentic charm. The house has a wonderful light and relaxing feel to it and has been furnished to a standard seen usually in far more expensive properties.
Inside the house you will be greeted by a brand new kitchen and dining area with wood-burning stove on the ground floor. Moving upstairs there is a double bedroom and a shower room on the 1st floor; and on the 2nd floor you will find a sitting room, beyond which you will be able to sit out on the charming private roof terrace and enjoy a glass of wine on a mild French evening.
This small town's bustling centre becomes even more vibrant on Tuesdays as it is market day. If you are looking for something a little more relaxing, then why not take a stroll around pleasant park or the Lac de Jouarres - a beautiful lake ideal spot for reading, fishing, boating, swimming, and wind surfing. Olonzac, only a 45-minute drive from Carcassonne and even less from Narbonne and Beziers, is ideally placed for exploring this lovely region. A 10 minute walk will take you to Homps, where you will find the Canal du Midi, which offers lots of opportunities for walking, cycling or a boat trip as well as relaxing with a drink in one of the many cafes watching the passing boats.

We really enjoyed our week Chez Lu Lu!
The house is lovely, and Olonzac is a sweet locale with access to so many points of interest. We were truly able to relax here and take it all in.
Thanks for all the thoughtful provisions around the house. This was a vacation we won’t forget soon!

Just wanted to write a little note to say how much we enjoyed
our holiday in your beautiful house.
It was a real home from home - Julian couldn't help commenting - almost daily - on how lovely it was, and I certainly agree with him.
We were extremely comfortable and had everything we could
possibly need to make our holiday just that little bit extra special - thank you!
With very best wishes, a la prochaine

It is a thriving, authentic French town and comes all the more to life in the summer months, even boasting its own festival in August (please ask for the dates).
The area around the town offers many opportunities for walking and cycling with many interesting villages and the Canal du Midi is just a short bike ride away. In the park in Olonzac, there are tennis courts and a boulodrome. At the Lac du Jouarres, a 5-minute drive away, with its man-made beach, you will be able to swim, fish or wind-surf or simply go for a quiet walk.
The Mediterranean beaches at Gruissan or Narbonne Plage 30km offer a wide range of water sports including wind-surfing, sailing and diving. Alternatively there is a swimming pool at the large leisure centre in Narbonne - Espace Liberte. Golfers, meanwhile can enjoy a round at Beziers and Carcassonne - both about a 45-minute drive from the house.
Staying in the heart of the Minervois region, wine-lovers will find numerous chateaux and 'domaines' offering wine-tastings. If beautiful historical buildings are more your interest, you should enjoy visits to the ancient city of Minerve - a former Cathar stronghold, the medieval city of Carcassonne with its 52 turrets, Narbonne with its cathedral, archbishop's palace and famous indoor market, Beziers and the staircase of 9 locks on the Canal du Midi at Fontseranes, the abbeys of Fontfroide and Lagrasse, and the Cathar castles. The Spanish border is only about a 90-minute drive away - so a day trip to Spain is possible too!
At the Tuesday market in Olonzac you will see wonderful displays of colourful regional produce, herbs, spices and wines amongst many other stalls. If you are a real market fan, then there is another good one at Lezignan Corbieres, 15 minutes drive, on a Wednesday, a big outdoor canal-side market at Narbonne on Thursdays and Sundays, and a fantastic indoor food market everyday in Les Halles. In the summer season there's an evening market fortnightly in the canal-side village of Homps, just 5-minutes drive away.
Restaurants - Olonzac has a number of reasonably-priced restaurants all within walking distance, and just down the road in Homps there is a further good selection of restaurants with different types of food on offer.
Supermarket - the nearest supermarket is just on the edge of town and there's another one at La Redorte - just 10 minutes drive.
Parking - There is free parking just in front of the house - spaces are not however allocated.
A damage/security deposit of 150 Euros or £150 on arrival. This will be refunded to you at the end of your stay less the replacement cost of any breakages or damage.
All bedroom linen and towels are provided, as too are services within the fixed price.
Change over Day: Normally Saturday in June, July, August and September. It is flexible in other months according to availability.
Smoking and pets are not permitted - sorry.
