Discover Alet-les-Bains: a beautiful historic village with excellent facilities for family holidays. It is situated by the river in the Aude valley, about 30mins drive from the spectacular medieval city of Carcassonne and 30 mins from the Pyrenees. The area provides endless opportunities for riding, mountain biking, watersports and other outdoor activities. The village is of great historical interest - it was settled by the Romans because of its mild climate and hot springs, then became a significant medieval 'city' with a major abbey (you can visit the ruins or maybe enjoy a concert beneath its arches). Alet was, for a time, the home of Nostradamus. It is about 10 mins from the famous village of Rennes le Chateau, with its links to the Da Vinci Code and the mystery of the Knights Templar and the Holy Grail. The area is also the romantic and historic setting for Kate Mosse's novels 'Labyrinth' and 'Sepulchre'.

Relax in a spacious, well-equipped, newly refurbished, comfortably furnished villa with garden, balcony and two patios, offering flexible accommodation (ideal for couples or families to share) near swimming pool in medieval spa village on river Aude near Carcassonne / Pyrenees, Mediterranean coast.

Four bedrooms (spectacular views), three shower rooms, two fitted kitchens, large games room, airy dining room, French windows to shaded dining patio and large garden. Top floor can be used as a self-contained appartment for four with its own kitchen, lounge-diner, shower room, terrace and private patio with barbecue.

A number of friendly family ski resorts are within 1- 2 hour's drive (downhill and cross country). Visit the wine producers of the Minervois, Corbieres, Fitou, Rivesaltes, Banyuls and Tautavel as well as the local Blanquette de Limoux and Maleperes.

The house is just outside the walls of the ancient part of the village, less than five minutes walk from the lovely village swimming pool (fed continuously by natural spring water), tennis court, boulodrome and the river with a canoe hire centre and a shady island equipped for picnics and barbecues. The village also has an area for basketball and five a side football and a play area for younger children, as well as an 'accropark' for the more adventurous.

There is a Fete of the Spring Water on the second weekend of June and an international Folklore festival in the village in the last week of July.
