Charming courtyard cottage with private gated courtyard located in beautiful rural quiet countryside amidst sunflowers and vines, yet only 20 mins from Angoulême with its' abundance of shops, boutiques, bars/restaurants, museums, culture and history.

'Alouette' is totally separate in its courtyard and private from our two gites 'Souris' and 'Fauvette', the latter which have the capability of sleeping 14 in all (visit our website via the link on this site).

The property is an old farmhouse cottage, which has been tastefully decorated and equipped to a high standard, with two double bedrooms : one with double bed, the other with three single beds.

Lounge/diner is fully equipped with utensils, crockery, glassware. Seating for 5 with satellite HD TV/ HD DVD player and expanding DVD library. A range of books and games are also provided. WIFI FREE internet access (Broadband) for those wishing to check their emails!

Outside you have garden furniture, BBQ, parasol, private car parking, and via a private door in the courtyard, access to our 1.5 acre garden with outdoor table tennis, boules, croquet, ball games etc., and the heated, shared, 11x7m illuminated pool with beautiful countryside views for that 'Get Away From It All' holiday.

As for things to do, here is a sample of a few of the many things available :-

Angoulême (20 mins) is a 'must' to visit with its abundance of restaurants for lunch and evening meals, boutiques, shops, museums, history and culture. Jet skiing and Karting for the more adventurous. Golf, leisure lake, local vineyards for private tastings.

'Plan D'Eau' is a 40 hectare leisure lake on the outskirts of Angoulême (20 mins) which has facilities for tennis, swimming, fishing, boating, sailing and wind-surfing. A café provides refreshments, or take your own picnic.

Brantome (45 mins) is another place for your list, with conoeing/river cruises on the Dronne, riverside cafes/restaurants for refreshments, shops and boutiques.

Cognac with famous brands such as Courvoisier, Hine,Hennessey. Also designer built 72 par golf course and 22 tennis courts to take your pick, river cruises on the Charente, or pop into our local cognac producer just 5 minutes down the road.

Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (40 mins away) is reputed to be Charente's prettiest medieval village with artisan boutiques, bars/restaurants, swimming at the man-made beach and Europe's most famous medieval church, built underground in the local limestone rock.

Roumaziers (50 mins) has the Velo Rail (cycle rail), which is a good fun day out. Taking a picnic for the half-way stage on the Velo Rail is highly recommended.

Royan (1H15) has 3 sandy beaches and an abundance of shops, bars/restaurants. The Zoo at La Palmyre is also worthy of a visit, as is the Aquarium.

Poitiers (1H30) has the famous 'Futurescope' and is a great tourist attraction.

In fact what ever your favourite French pastime, you will find it near us.
