Our spacious gite (over 100m2) has a traditional french ambiance with tall original french windows, high ceilings, period furniture, marble and parquet flooring. It has been recently re-decorated and is well equipped and furnished. It enjoys a south east facing private covered terrace and fenced garden.

The gite is set within the grounds of our old french manor house, Domaine du Coq d'Or.
It is set within restful countryside and yet is less than 2 km from the small French town of Montguyon with its historic castle and all amenities – including large supermarket, local weekly market, banks , post office , small shops, restaurants and Tourist Information office.

We are situated at the corner of 4 great French departments , the Charente maritime – the second sunniest area of France and popular Atlantic coast; the Charente – famed for Cognac and rolling fields of sunflower; the Gironde – home of some of the Worlds best wine and the Dordorgne – full of spectacular scenery and Caves.

Whether you are looking for Wine, Culture or the countryside there is plenty for you in this region....
We are only 45 mins drive to the Historic cities of Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Angouleme and Cognac.
The Atlantic beaches at Royan are just over an hour away, and one of Europes best Zoos is found at Palmyre .
An hour and half will get you deep into the Dordogne with the spectacular chateaux and gardens of Marqueyssac and Hautefort , the world famous cave drawings at Lascaux and numerous open air food markets.
Consider a visit to the largest natural sand dune in Europe at Pilat just south of Bordeaux .



Getting Here
We are easily accessible from the N10 and A10 , both main auto routes to the South west of France from the North.
Fly to Bordeaux airport ( 50min drive) or Bergerac airport ( 1hr 20mins drive) or consider Limoges or La Rochelle each 2hr.
The TGV train stops at Angouleme ( 50mins), Libourne (40mins) and Bordeaux 50mins.

Our rates include
Bed linen, towels , gas, electric and hot water and welcome pack and we are on site to help you settle in.
Please note that the rate does not include heating and is therefore only available in the summer months.
