The Poitou-Charentes region has a magnificent 350 km of coastline and is one of the finest destinations for all year round holidays and weekend breaks in France, being the 2nd sunniest region. From abbeys to chateaux, around 600 monuments testify to a rich past where Roman art left its mark. Visit an original Roman Arc de Triomphe in the beautiful town of Saintes or go to Richard the Lionheartšs castle in Niort. One of the many places worth a visit is the cellars and distilleries of Cognac, where you can visit the distilleries and vineyards of Hennessy, Otard, Remy Martin, Courvoisier and the countless smaller producers.
