La Ruelmain is a tiny hamlet in the Vilaine valley, near La Roche Bernard in south Brittany. It lies on a slight rise where historic water meadows (marais) meet the woodland and farms of the commune of St Dolay, with stunning views to the river.
The House is an ancient stone cottage dating from the 17th century. It has the typical features of Brittany cottages - thick walls, few windows, and shutters. Its unique feature is the huge bedroom reached by an enclosed spiral wooden staircase. Off the patio is the garden room which can serve as second bedroom or sitting room as you wish.
Downstairs is a spacious living room with wood-burning stove, sofa, dining table and dresser, and a very well equipped kitchen area. The shower room has shower, WC and handbasin. Two smaller gites, each sleeping two and with its own garden, are also available. All linen, towels, hot water etc, are included.
There is good walking and cycling, and lots of wildlife, but more important, complete tranquility in a beautiful area.
We take hotel-style bookings, i.e. no 'changeover day', at a per night price based on one-seventh of the weekly price (so you can get cheaper ferry crossings AND avoid terrifying French weekend traffic). Minimum 3 nights. To check availability or to book on line click through to our website.

- We take bookings on a per night basis (min. 3 nights), so no fixed change-over days. Per night price based on one-seventh of the weekly price, with a £5 per night surcharge for stays of 3,4, or 5 nights.
