St. Salomon is a peaceful hamlet nestling in the heart of the Breton countryside.
Our farmhouse is set in a secluded, tranquil area. We don’t have many neighbours, but those we do have are friendly, kind French people.
“Our house” is a typical Breton farmhouse, stone built with a slate roof and when you step inside its rustic charm opens up in front of you.
The house has undergone a lot of refurbishment making it a comfortable place to stay.
The house is set in over 2 acres of land, which includes a water meadow, woodlands and secluded gardens.
The rear gardens and water meadow are bordered by a tributary of the River Sarre.
INSIDE THE HOUSE
The house has been converted back to its original form of two separate dwellings, but we have retained the facility to enable the house to be let as one property for larger parties.
Gite 1
This Gite overlooks the water meadow at the rear of the property. The lounge area has a wood-burning stove and is light and spacious.
Off the lounge is a spacious kitchen and dining area, which has been recently re-fitted with everything needed to cook for the family. This room has a large shuttered window which enables the sunlight to radiate throughout the room.
Upstairs there is beamed master bedroom and two further bedrooms one with bunk beds, and one with a single bed making this gite suitable for 2 adults and 3 children.
The new bathroom consists of a bath and shower above, toilet and sink.
Surrounding Area
The Golf du Morbihan is very pretty and Vannes is a lovely town only about 40 minutes away on the South Coast. Further up the coast towards Lorient the beaches of Carnac are very good and there are long, sandy beaches at the Erdevan Point with ample parking, safe swimming and rock pools to investigate when the tide is out.
South of Vannes on the N164, la Roche Bernard is well worth a visit and has a street market on Monday’s in the summer. To the east of Pontivy is Josselin, which is a very pretty place to visit and boasts a dramatic Chateaux.
A short drive will take you to Luc du Guerledan, which is close to Mur de Bretagne. The lake has a lovely beach, Beau Rivage and has boating, water skiing, jet skiing, pedaloes and canoes for hire. The “Duc de Guerledan” is a boat that provides tours of the lake running from Beau Rivage and trips are available most days during the summer months. At certain times you can even book a meal on board during your tour of the lake.
