Bois de Tauzin is a 200 year old single story house typical of the Sud Gironde & Landes. Set in tranquil rolling countryside with beautiful views and walks on the doorstep, the house offers flexible accommodation for 2-8 people and is within easy reach of several larger towns. The house can either be occupied as a single facility for a party of 6-8 or divided into a main house and a separate gite. The main house has a separate living room, kitchen-dining room,shower/wet room, separate toilet, 1 double bedroom and one twin and a utility room. The gite has a double bedroom with terrace and barbecue area, a kitchen/dining/sitting room with bed settee (big enough for 2 young children or one adult) and a shower room with toilet. The property has a very private 10x5 metre saltwater pool and is surrounded by a large garden with plenty of space for badminton, boules and more. A shaded terrace runs the length of the property.
The Bazadais region is nearby, famous for its world heritage site Cathedral, its beef and the castles of Cazeneuve, Roquetaillade and Villandraut. In and around this area there is excellent waymarked cycling and walking, with canoeing on the picturesque Ciron at Villandraut.
At Casteljaloux is the tourist complex around the lake - Lac de Clarens - where you will find, in addition to the swimming lake, high ropes course, riding school and restaurants, a good golf course. There is also a thermal spa in the town if you feel the need for more rest and relaxation.
Between these 2 towns and beyond to the Atlantic, lies the vast forest of the Regional Landes de Gascogne with its regional Ecomuseum Marquèze, an essential day-long visit. Medieval Armangnac which lies within this beautiful area is well worth a visit too.
The Atlantic is only one and half hours away or less, with the stunning Dune du Pila, the beautiful Bassin d'Arcachon, and many surf beaches.
The larger town of Marmande with its many Black Prince associations, is 16 miles away with excellent shopping facilities. Nearby the Canal latèral a la Garonne provides great cycling and boating. Nerac is another picturesque historical town where river boat trips can be taken; beyond is the larger and attractive Agen, famous for its prunes and sausages. There are fantastic and picturesque markets in Bazas, Castlejaloux, Langon and Marmande whilst the famous vineyards are also close by. Equally, there is plenty of local walking and cycling on the doorstep, with the eerily quiet 14th century village of Romestaing less than mile away; the sleepy villages of Cocumont (with its wine cooperative) and Grignols are less than 3 miles each. For those who wish to simply relax, then dozing in the hammocks in the cool of the verandah or around the pool, is the perfect answer.
